The National Centre for Management Development and Information Technology (N.C.M.D.I.T) of the Ministry of Planning held a workshop on indicators and criteria for the Sustainable Development Report in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in the presence of the General-Director of the Centre, Dr. Fouad Al-Rabaiy, in his capacity as Chairman of the Good Governance group of the MoP. With the participation of the internal working group on Good Governance, the workshop addressed the indicators and criteria of the Sustainable Development Report, in particular its sixteenth objective (good governance). The lecture, Dr. Sundas Abbas, Director of one of the United Nations projects, reviewed the objectives of sustainable development, focusing on Goal 16, its link to peace and justice, the building of peaceful societies and its links to other goals, and commended Iraq’s role in the submission and processing of data for the previous period in 2019.
Abbas highlighted the important role of the N.C.M.D in the follow-up to Goal 16 and the preparation of mechanisms and indicators for sustainable development, particularly this goal, and in cooperation with other actors in the government and private sectors, with a view to achieving comprehensive sustainable development.
