Goal 10: Reduce inequality within and among countries

  • The government program works through the second axis to raise the level of service to reduce the differences between the governorates. The Human Development Index for the year 2014, showed that there is a disparity between the governorates within the same country, and that Iraq’s ranking was the lowest compared to the countries of the region such as Turkey, Iran, Syria…etc.
  • Existing plans and strategies in its activities and projects sought to reduce the differences between men and women in contributing to economic activity and access to education and other social services.
  • The government has adopted a social protection policy to reach the poor, support them financially, and integrate them into society to reduce disparities between them and other groups.
  • The fiscal and monetary policy in Iraq seeks to reduce the budget deficit and increase the proportion of spending in favor of the investment budget with the aim of achieving balanced development.
  • In order to reach an integrated economic stability, Iraq seeks to increase monetary policy to be supportive of the goals of sustainable development in a way that ensures its harmony with economic policy in general and financial policy in particular.
  • The population document adopted permanent care for Iraqis abroad and consolidating the relationship with them to enhance their belonging to the homeland and facilitate their return, especially the talented among them, to participate in development efforts.
  • Opening offices to take care of immigrants’ affairs in Jordan, Iran, and Turkey, and issuing Resolution 441 that encourages the return of talent from abroad.
  • Signing an agreement for housing Palestinian refugees in Iraq with the High Commissioner for Refugees, setting a national policy to address the displacement resulting from terrorist operations,
  • Preparing a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Immigration and the European Union Commission on the migration of Iraqis to the European Union countries.
  • Within the activities of the poverty alleviation strategy, a mechanism has been developed to include the beneficiaries of the social protection system with small loans and link them to removing them from the social protection system to integrate them into society after building a common information base between the Social Protection Authority and other institutions.
