The Ministry of Planning participated in the first international conference on sustainable development, which was held in Babylon province with international participation from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan.
According to a statement by the ministry, this conference came in order to exchange ideas, experiences and expectations on the establishment of more sustainable societies and the consolidation of the concept of sustainable development. As well as spreading the culture of moral commitment to take responsibility towards society and the environment to reach high-quality economic, social and educational outputs to achieve sustainable development goals. The statement added that the themes of the conference focused on achieving goals in the areas of poverty reduction, improving health, quality education and social development. As the Babylon Planning Directorate of the Department of Regional and Local Development in the Ministry, represented by Mr. Khaled Kazem Hassan, Director of Planning, participated in the working paper tagged on (The Role of Planning in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals), in which he addressed the role of the Ministry of Planning in managing and coordinating efforts to achieve sustainable development goals at the national level, As well as the role of the Babylon Planning Directorate at the local level, Pointing to the success stories achieved in the field of localization of sustainable development goals in Babylon Governorate. He pointed out that the morning and evening conference sessions were held in the halls of the Babylon Tourist Resort, the University of Babylon, the Islamic University and Imam Sadiq Hospital.
